II General Description
Small church consisting of W tower, two-bay nave with side aisles, and chancel. The S aisle is of the 13thc. while the N copies it and dates to an 1871-72 restoration. The W tower arch leading into the nave is Romanesque.

Round headed, single order. Jambs are plain while the large imposts have a chamfered lower edge. Each impost is composed of two pieces of stone. Arch is plain. Both the E and W sides are treated this way.

VII History
Though Burgh-on-Bain is mentioned in the Domesday Survey, there is no record of a church here in 1086.
VIII Comments/Opinions
The consistency of the surface condition on the jambs, imposts, and arch suggest that all of this is good Romanesque material.
