II General Description
A ruined chapel excavated by Thomas Ross in 1861.
Lost sculpture: Carved fragments found in chancel during excavations in 1861 included a fragment of a scallop capital, a head and a moulding (SAC xiv, 1862, 117, with illustrations). The present whereabouts of these pieces is not known.
VII History
The chapel was a prebend of the free chapel of St Mary in Castro. It does not seem to have been granted to Sir Anthony Browne in 1540, and descended in the family of Sir Richard Sackville. It eventually fell into ruin.
