VIII Comments/Opinions

The font closely resembles that of St Anne, Lewes, but is slightly smaller. The central band, carved with basketwork, is narrower in proportion to the other bands than on the Lewes font, and the carving overall is less regular. The font in East Dean church has top and bottom bands like those of Denton and Lewes, but the motif in the central band consists of interlocking circles.
