The Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture will be intended to be a complete online record of all the surviving Romanesque sculpture in the Britain and Ireland. Available free to all, it acts as both a record of a precious heritage and as an exciting new tool for researchers. Through its interactive capabilities, we are able to resolve old problems and ask new questions. CRSBI is a registered charity (No.1168535).

The work of recording and photography is done by a team of volunteers, all experienced students or scholars of Romanesque sculpture. Each piece is photographed, briefly described or defined, measured where applicable and uploaded to the website, with a brief introduction to the building. All site reports are then checked by an expert editor before publication on this website. Arranged county by county, each site entry follows a fixed structure that helps you to navigate through the sculptured features of the building, starting with such larger elements as doors and arches and going on to fonts and smaller pieces.
