Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland: Chair of the Management Board – Job Description

The Chair is accountable to the Board of Trustees for:

  • Chairing at least three meetings of the Management Board per annum and reporting to at least two Trustees’ meetings per annum
  • Managing and supporting the Management Board team
  • Being the public face of the CRSBI to the academic world
  • Encouraging fundraising initiatives from public, voluntary and private sources
  • Ensuring that CRSBI fulfills its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities as a charity and a company and to its volunteers and contract staff, including Health and Safety requirements

Chair of the Management Board - Person Specification

The successful candidate will be well qualified in a subject related to the CRSBI, e.g. History of Art or Architecture, Heritage Studies, Museum Studies, or History, and have demonstrated an interest in the medieval period. He or she would have a willingness to develop an expertise in Romanesque architecture and sculpture.

An awareness of the significance of IT in the Humanities is important although specific skills and experience in this area is not necessary. Above all he or she should have an enthusiasm for the project itself, and a desire to expedite its success.
