Image of the feature "III. Exterior Features: 1. Doorways: N doorway, nave (reset)" at Badsey.
by Ben Read.
Round-headed, one order, with plain monolithic tympanum and a lintel with a thick cable moulding along the lower edge. Plain square jambs. The arch bears one row of lateral chevron on the face, outlined outside by a groove and with a cogwheel edge. Heavy label with pellets, now largely eroded, on the chamfered inner edge. Original springers probably lost.
The doorway appears to have been reduced in height and set higher in the wall, but it retains an old wooden door, set over a stone threshold. The tympanum seems to have been moved foreward; the coghwheel edge may indicate that there was also chevron on the soffit.
