St Anthony (now)
Lenton is on the western outskirts of Nottingham. Once a village, it was absorbed into the city of Nottingham in 1877. Lenton was the site of a Cluniac priory founded in the 12thc. The church of St Anthony consists of a nave, N and S aisles and chancel, and forms a chapel of ease in the parish of Holy Trinity, New Lenton. It was (re-)built in 1884 incorporating parts of the infirmary chapel of Lenton Priory, which was dedicated to St Anthony. The chancel is partly medieval and incorporates a piece of re-set 12thc carving in the chancel step.
