Description

North Wheatley is located between Gainsborough and Retford, close to the Lincolnshire border. The church comprises a chancel, nave, S porch and W tower. The only Romanesque feature is the font.

History

North Wheatley is mentioned in the Domesday Survey as belonging to Roger de Bully, but there is no mention of the church. The W tower is 15thc. and the chancel was rebuilt in a Perpendicular style in 1825. The church was restored in 1896 (by C. Hodgson Fowler) and again in 1927.
