The church consists of a chancel, a nave, N aisle, Perpendicular tower and a small S porch. The chancel arch of the church dates from around 1200, though it has undergone major repairs in recent years. Some of the earlier fabric survived the 19th-century fire and subsequent restoration.
In Domesday Book Edward of Salisbury held Wilcot from the King and the estate included 'a new church; a very good house; a good vineyard.' 69b, 1.
The chancel was rebuilt in 1825. On 11 April 1876 the building was gutted by fire, leaving the main walls and tower. The church was rebuilt in the same year by AJ Style.
