This late 12thc. and 13thc. church comprises a W tower, nave with S and N arcades (the N aisle added 1874 in style of S aisle) and a square chancel. A large Victorian addition on the N side of the tower is the Brackenbury Chapel of 1874.
No church is mentioned in the Domesday Book, although there was a village (Porteslamhe). The church was built in the late 12thc. and early 13thc., and was restored in 1860. The N aisle and Bracklebury Chapel were built in 1874.
The chevron to the N of the chancel arch appears to be the earliest part of the fabric. It is difficult to parallel in the county.
