The body of the church is Perpendicular, although clearly not all of one build. The only feature earlier than the 15thc is the Romanesque font.

Originally the parish church of Saltash, until the chapel-of-ease of St Nicholas was made a parish in 1881. Saltash is not mentioned in either the Domesday Book or the Taxatio of 1291.

As the motifs (palmettes, tree of life, monsters, stern heads) are identical but the overall quality of execution much lower, it is tempting to say that this Bodmin-type font is a copy of that at St Austell by a different carver.
