Description

The church comprises, chancel, nave with N aisle and S porch, and W tower.  It has its origins in the 12thc. and was added to in the 14thc., 15thc, and 16thc.  It was restored in 1869 and 1875-89. Romanesque scultpure is found on the S doorway and on the font.

History

At the time of DS Bradford was held by Baldwin the Sherrif.  It was held by Algar Long before the Conquest.

Comments/Opinions

The font is one of  five similar fonts with fluted bowls. The others are at Abbotsham, Beaford, Clayhanger and Parkham (Clarke, 310). The Bradford font is more shallow than the others in the group. 

Bond notes the oval bowl, rejecting any possibility of symbolic meaning in its shape (58).
