A scallop capital, column and base have been re-erected in the shrubbery bordering the square. The capital was so large it was made in two pieces. The column may not be full-height. The features are much eroded.
There is no known history of these pieces.
Due to scale of the pieces, especially the capital, it is possible they came from St George's.
The multi-scallop capital might be compared to those at Kirkstall Abbey.
Jackson (1855) illustrates two-scallop capitals from the ruins of the church, and although they are only double and triple-scallop, their style is similar.
