Museum on the Orkney Isles has fragments from St Ola's church, Kirkwall (destroyed, no traces remaining on its former site), St Magnus Cathedral, and more.

Lang suggested an 11thc date for the grave cover fragment and the historical documentation seems to suggest a date probably no earlier than the mid-11thc. A date as late as the early 12thc is also a possibility.
